For the next few weeks, the Ben for Mayor campaign is focusing our efforts on house parties — everyone loves house parties! We’ve had some wonderful events in the last few weeks. Everyone attending has been able to meet Ben and ask him question as well as have an opportunity to give him input and ideas about how to make our county a better place to live, work and play. However, we’re not done yet. We’ve got 7 of these coming up in the next two weeks, and we’d love for you to get involved. Here’s a preview of what’s to come:

02/22 (6:00 PM to 8:00 PM) – House District 36 (Millcreek Township and Holladay)
02/24 (6:00 PM to 8:00 PM) – House District 34 (Taylorsville and West Valley City)
02/25 (5:00 PM to 7:00 PM) – House District 24 (Salt Lake Downtown)
03/02 (6:00 PM to 8:00 PM) – House District 23 (Rose Park)
03/03 (9:00 AM to 11:00 AM) – House District 28 (Harvard/Yale)
03/03 (6:00 PM to 8:00 PM) – House District 45 (Cottonwood Heights)
03/05 (6:00 PM to 8:00 PM) – House District 24 (Salt Lake Downtown)

Hosting a house party is a great way to help the campaign with a minimal time commitment. If you can open up your homes to us for just a couple hours, it’s a great way for Ben to meet the people of Salt Lake County and answer any questions they may have. Last week, we invited you to a Ben for Mayor holiday reception and fundraiser. Today, we are excited to announce that Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. has confirmed that he will be in Utah and is planning to attend our fundraiser this Thursday!

We hope you will come to our event on Thursday at the Oyster Bar to have some hot cocoa and appetizers, talk with Ben about the campaign, and hear from Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.

Represent Me Utah! Awards Sen. Ben McAdams, Rep. Brian King and citizen David Garber for their Redistricting Efforts

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Salt Lake City, Utah – Three “You Represented Me!” awards will be presented to Utah’s Senator Ben McAdams, Representative Brian King, and citizen David Garber for their outstanding efforts during Utah’s redistricting process in their attempts to make new voting district boundaries as fair as possible for all citizens. Represent Me Utah!, a nonpartisan citizens group that followed the process, experienced first hand the exceptional efforts of these public servants, and Mr. Garber, as they each went above and beyond in trying to keep common interests together and new districts as compact as possible.

An award plaque will be presented to each individual at a luncheon at Biaggi’s Ristorante Italiano, 194 South 400 West, Salt Lake City. Lunch begins at noon. The press announcement, delivery of awards, and brief speeches will begin at 12:45 p.m.
